Have you (the producers) considered releasing the show in a downloadable format or hosting it on a bittorrent so that it could be spread around to a wider audience? From what it looks like you don’t have any conflicts financially from doing it, so it could be a great way of getting it spread around.

I genuinely think you will generate a lot of interest this way.. think about it!

I think I read somewhere that they are going to have HD versions of the episodes downloadable for a small fee starting in January.  I do agree that having it on bittorrent would spread the word faster.  But wouldnt they want people to watch the show on their website?

It would make sense if they had advertising or something to bring in revenue for watching the episode on the site, but since they don’t I would say torrents are the way to go. Plus torrents travel faster and wider than word of mouth

Seeding episodes as torrents would be a fast way to give the show more exposure, but on the other hand, they would end up losing control of its distribution. Whether this would be a problem or not, who knows. The video player applet can be iffy and doesn’t always work, which can be a big problem. Perhaps just offering the option to download the episodes as smaller compressed files would be better.

As someone who watches TV shows on my computer, I find it much easier to watch something if it’s downloadable and can be viewed offline at full screen where I can sit back and enjoy it, rather than via a web browser. There are too many distractions, and I find I can devote more attention to a show if viewed offline.

Yeah I guess it really depends on their distribution plans, like you say once it’s in the hands of the torrent community it could be wildly popular or forgotten the day after it was posted

I agree though, personally I would rather have the episode downloaded so I can watch it on my TV at my leisure.

One of the problems with releasing Team Epic with the Torrent community is that people who download torrents generally search for popular media, whether it’s music, apps, tv, or movies. Unless they’ve heard of it, I doubt that it would become that popular.

Also, since the show’s on the web, it should be just as easy for people to visit the site as it is for them to download the torrent. However, I do agree that this show needs to be easier to spread virally.

YouTube is great for that because you can email a link to your friend with a personalized message, telling them to watch the show. I think this site needs to become more like that…

I totally agree, the ‘viralness’ of the series will help to make it, if it will make it at all. Try and think how many series have tried to clamp down online versus the amount of series scrambling to put all their content online.

Espcially for an online series, the producers really need to get with it if this thing is going to take off. The fans will do more work in promoting it if they are given the chance

I have just enough patience to sit and watch a 45 minute show embedded on a website, if I could download and watch it whenever I would be way more likely to watch it and pass it around to my friends.

Hi Berserker,

I followed your post here from “Tell the World” thread. Just out of curiousity, why don’t you just pass the website or URL to your friends, so they can watch the episodes on the website with all of the other features? I’ve found it much easier to send a link to my buddies for the website, especially since each episode is over forty minutes long. It would take much longer to pass the footage along.

Also, if you know how and have the time to set it up, you can stream your picture directly onto your television set. I’ve done it and it actually looks pretty good.

I just don’t know why they’d allow the episodes to be downloadable when they’re already available online to watch at any time. Especially if they are looking at selling the episodes online like Spiderman suggests above.

I must agree with Superman. It’s actually easier to watch online than download a torrent. Except that you could’t put it on your ipod and show friends that way. Streaming takes way less load time than downloading directly onto your hard-drive.

Anyway, if anyone is intersted. There’s a new program which streams almost any show. http://www.graboid.com.
It works sorta like the TE website mixed with a download program. It streams instantly and you can find most shows on the program.

I think it would be smart for the Team Epic people to realease an episode or two onto the site. It could be more controlled.

You know what might constitute a great viral compromise?

What if they allowed anyone to download trailers and send them to friends? We’re looking at smaller file sizes and viral marketing opportunities. Also, on each trailer they can embed a watermark that tells viewers to go to the site for more.
