Really fantastic description. She’d be an amazingly powerful Hero. What did you base her on? Interesting how the race resembles certain of our minerals i.e. crystal. Any further significance there?
Superman
p.s. Welcome!
I based her powers on the colors of the rainbow and associated parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Her red power is a heat ray. Blinding Flash is yellow (like the color of the sun, that blinds you if you look at it for too long). Anti-Gravity (flight) is green because I was thinking of the Earth and most of the Earth is green. Blue went to nuclear radiation because green was already taken (irradiated stuff usually is depicted as glowing green). Violet went to Ultraviolet, and it’s an invisible power. She can cook people with the power of the ultraviolet spectrum! Indigo went to explosions (Explosive ray) and orange became her forcefield because it was the only color left.
She also has another power that’s usually attributed to crystals. Healing. She can heal people, though that isn’t liked to a color. And I like crystals and gemstones. I collect them. I have a whole collection of crystals and gemstones, including a piece of rose quartz big enough to smash someone’s head in… kind of ironic, since it’s usually considered a healing stone.
Here’s the description I wrote of her for a game I use her in.
A tall woman with a streak of silver-blond hair, Spectra’s eyes are remote and not entirely human, reflecting instead the endless depths of space, lit with flaring stars and supernovae. Her costume is as transparent as her body, and it, too, is filled with fields of stars, gaseous nebulae and even the occasional galaxy.
Her powers come from the stars as well, and she emits a nimbus of light when she uses them, the colors of that light reflecting the form of the power. When she uses more than one power at a time, the colors fluctuate and flash around her in a darting, spinning light show.
In her heroic form, she doesn’t need to sleep very much and can survive in a vacuum or at high pressure- which can be attributed to her partly-crystalline body, and she’s also got a universal translator-type power as well and only needs to read or see something once to memorize it (eidetic memory). In her non-heroic form, she is a usually looked down upon minority (sometimes fat, sometimes black, sometimes hispanic- depends on if I am playing her or not).
And thanks for the welcome. It is greatly appreciated.
