The answer is quite simple.  A hero.  Not necessarily a literal one, but someone that has the virtues of a hero close to heart.  Someone who’s intentions would be to “save her” from anything spanning from literal danger to her personal insecurities.  Look to their scene in the elevator for more.  Even during the fight, when she gets into the grapple with the bad guy, Brood saves her.  Mind you, she returns the favor shortly after, but nonetheless, he looked PISSED when the dude was trying to hurt her.

Just thought of it now too, that’s the first character that we’ve seen Brood actually appear to KILL on screen.  Sure it was out of self-defense, but it gives you a bit of perspective as to how unique of a character Brood really is.  Sort of a “dark hero”.  Makes me really want to know more about his back story.  I’m assuming this isn’t the first person that he’s killed in over 500 years, but is this because of a dark past or something deeper?  Was he a villain at one time?  Perhaps a God Complex with the whole immortality thing?
